Iphone 4 + IOS 7 + GCM

Hi
I have an iphone 4 that i only use when i ride my bike.
Now i bought a edge 1000, and i was thinking using the Bluetooth function (for calls and messages), but looks like that the new version of GCM it's only available for IOS8+...

So my questions are:
- What was the latest version that worked with IOS7?
- With that version can i pair the iphone with the edge1000 and use this functionality?
- Finally, if it works, where can i get that version?

IIRC, the iPhone 4 doesn't have the BT 4.0 hardware (needed for BLE) but the iPhone 4S and above has the correct HW.

I thought that simple Bluetooth could do that...
