What a mess Garmin Connect mobile ios is. I have had my fenix3 now for a couple of months, and it can never synchronize automatically with switching the watch on and off, or iphone on and off, or uninstalling everything and reinstalling. It then works for a couple of syncs, and back to where we started.
Today was a prolonged maintenance downtime for Garmin Connect. It is now back up, and my watch tells me it is connected. Unfortunately, my iphone (6s) tells me it is not connected. I am just exhausted messing about with this hopeless system. I have no idea how to get it going again. This is an expensive watch with no satisfactory system of saving the data it collects, since the software is so poor and unstable. My iphone alone has a watch, a GPS, can track and save walks and runs with cheap apps. What is the point of fenix3 if Garmin cannot sort out their sofware.
Before Garmin Connect was switched off today by Garmin, the ios Garmin connect told me I should connect to myfitnesspal (which once worked). I attempted to connect, and Garmin connect told me that it was already connected. Nevertheless, it also tells me it is not connected and I must connect.
I would certainly advise anyone who asks me to keep well clear of Garmin fenix3 and stick to a simpler, cheaper system
