Problems with new Garmin Connect iOS and my Forerunner 220

I previously had my FR220 paired with my iPhone 5s just fine but with the update to the new app, it stopped syncing (and I couldn't figure out how to manually make it sync) so I unpaired the watch and tried to re-pair it. Well, it no longer re-pairs. It can find my watch just fine when I start the app but then when I confirm, it tries to setup and fails immediately. Retrying makes it no longer even find the watch. I have to actually close out of the program and restart it, where it will find the watch right away again but also fail to pair right away again.

    Still having problems

Okay, I no longer need to restart the mobile app to retry the pairing now. However, it still won't work. It can find the FR220 fine but once it goes to completing setup, it immediately gives me a setup failed error with option to reply.

unable to pair my FR220 as well

I also have the same issue. I could sync my data on Monday 26th Oct. But when I tried to sync on Tuesday 27th it would not work. I unpaired and tried to re-pair, but it won't work. I upgraded the IOS on my iphone on Sunday 25th. Could this be what has caused the issue? Do we need a new release of firmware / the iphone app?

    Pairing solved

I had this problem for the longest time and would retry every few weeks. I just figured out that once your iphone goes into the "completing setup ...." mode where it would always fail, immediately switch the watch to run mode and it will pair successfully with the setup of the app on the phone actually completing
