Forerunner 220 unable to sync with Samsung Galaxy A3

Forerunner 220: Version 3.30
Samsung Galaxy A3, Android Version 5.0.2

In the Menu Seetings | Bluetooth the Samsung Galaxy A3 , Android 5.0.2 detects the Forerunner 220 by bluetooth but says

"Cannot communicate with Forerunner 220."

(freely translated in EN ; original in DE: "Mit Forerunner 220 kann nicht kommunziert werden."

The connection of Samsung Galaxy A3 works with my other Garmin Vivoactive.

Same issue with Samsung 4s

I am having the same error message when I try to do that with my Samsung Galaxy 4s. Any suggestions?

I am having the same error message

I have found a strange way to make it work ; the following steps may not be fully consitent
(translated from German Menu):

- On your Android Phone: turn on Bluetooth (or let it on), neglect the Bluetooth devices (whereas the Forerunner 220 may appear but not connect as stated above)
- Start the Garmin Connect Mobile App
- On your Forerunner 220: go to Settings | Bluetooth | Connect and a 4 digit connect code is displayed
- On your Android Phone: Go to 'devices' and push add or refresh
- and suddenly or after some time / tries you get the connection within Garmin Connect Mobile App (but not within the Android Bluetooth menu)
