Thank you Z-74. I don't think I'll be trying that, because it looks veerrrrry involved. Too involved for me. Garmin really needs to get get itself together and repair what they broke.
My reading of your thread indicates to me that your issue is related to Fenix. The syncing problem I and others appear to be experiencing relates to Vivofit and Garmin Connect syncing. Everything worked fine until a recent update.
It's not the Fenix3 itself.
GCM is having issues related to this ill-fated 4.3 FW launch (don't forget the Epix has been updated as well as these 2 models share a lot in common).
Even if GCM hasn't released a patch, they surely had to retouch the servers since F3 file system was changed. I didn't patch my Galaxy S3 Neo and I now experience loss of WIFI connection (router out of range, lol, at 3 meters distance) when F3 is connected to it. Last time was 5' ago when an Email arrived. Notification popped up on the phone (not on the watch bc email notification is disabled on the F3) and it immediately lost WIFI connection.
VivoFit w/ Samsung Galaxy S5. It used to sporadically fail to sync before the 6 August update. Now it sporadically works after a reboot or repair or reinstall. The 6/8 update was apparently to make the bluetooth sync work better..
I have the same issue with my vivoactive. Syncs once, then drops the connection about 5 minutes later and then have to spend 20 minutes getting it to sync again. Hope they make this right.
After two weeks of intermittent, unreliable syncing - and no acknowledgement of an issue from Garmin let alone a fix - I have figured a work around. The only way I have been able to reliably sync with my phone is to:
- turn off Bluetooth on the phone;
- wait a few seconds;
- turn the Bluetooth back on;
- ensure that the vivofit is in the paired list; and
- then sync.
This seems to work reliably - for me anyway.
Would prefer a better long term solution but there doesn't seem to be one on the horizon.
Same problem here, a consistent fix for me is to force close the Garmin app then get you vivofit2 to display sync and the reopen the app it works every time. Although it doesn't fix the problem you'll at least be able to sync it consistently. Hope it works for you. To force close an app usually is a long press on the app icon in the app drawer click on app info and force close.
