smart notifications don't work since last connect mobile app update

I have a garmin fenix 3 (firmwareversion 4.0) and a Bq aquaris E5 android phone with android 4.4.2.

Before the last garmin connect mobile, the smart notifications (text messages, calls, etc) used to work perfectly.

Since the last garmin connect mobile update, they don't work anymore.

When i go to the smart notifications screen on the fenix 3, it says "waiting for data" and remains like this forever.

the calendar widget works fine and syncs.

the only way i can get the smart notification widget do work is by turning on the internet on the watch, and then open the connect mobile app, and in the watch bluetooth menu pair it with the phone and the sync it.

this didn't hapenned before the last garmin connect mobile app update.

without internet, i can't get smart notifications on the watch... only the calendar works.

and if i loose the bluetooth connect between the watch and the phone, when that connect is restablished, i must turn on the internet again, pair it, and sync it, because it returns to the screen "waiting for data" in the smart notifications widget.

As I said, before the last garmin connect mobile app update, it all worked perfectly without internet on the phone, and without have to manually sync with the mobile app, even when the bluetooth connect between the watch and the phone was lost and the restablished later.

We have received numerous reports that upgrading to Version 2.13 breaks Smart Notifications on the Fenix 3. At this time, it appears to occur with a "saved" pairing. To resolve the issue:

    1. Remove the device pairing from Garmin Connect Mobile and log out
    2. Clear the app cache/data in your phone Settings
    3. Log in to Garmin Connect Mobile and pair the Fenix 3

We are working with the device team to identify the root cause.

Our apologies for any inconvenience !
  • Same here, I have a Vioactive 1 and the exact same thing happened after this latest update too.
