can't sign in

I can't sign in from my android phone using garmin connect app. The message says: A problem occurred while attempting to sign into Garmin Connect. Username and password are correct - checked via web login. Any ideas what could be wrong?

I can't log in for the first time either. It's driving me mad. My new watch arrived yesterday and I can't connect
