LiveTrack not working with Edge 1000 / Android App

Hi there,

I have a recently purchased Edge 1000 and I'm attempting to use the LiveTrack feature, but not having much luck. Let me explain what I have:

Device: Edge 1000 (connected by bluetooth)
Phone: Nexus 5 (connect to network by wifi)

I can start the LiveTrack ok and receive the email. When the device connects, the app detects this and everything appears to be working ok. The only problem is that no matter what I try, there is never any data displayed on the LiveTrack map and, even when the route completes and I stop the LiveTrack (selecting the "keep data visible for 24 hours") the website doesn't show even a single data point!

Things that work absolutely fine:
1) Sync of completed rides to Garmin Connect via the app - this happens automatically within a few seconds of ending a ride
2) Onwards sync to Strava from GC
3) Strava segments transferring down to the device (yes, I put the new firmware on :) )
....in fact, pretty much everything else works absolutely fine!

As far as I can tell, the bluetooth never disconnects during a ride (well, certainly I never see a notification telling me "Phone Connected" even on long rides) and I don't generally have to fiddle with stuff to make it work.

Obvious question: What am I doing wrong? Does anyone else have problems with this?

Thanks,

Daern
  • OK, some more investigation here - despite the fact that the app appears quite happy about it, LiveTrack does not work if you start the LiveTrack session before starting and connecting the Garmin. Everything appears to be working ok, but no data is sent back.

Kinda sucks, as it's much easier to be able to start it up and stash the phone, but at least now I know what to do, I can see if this makes it work any better.

    More to come...
