LiveTrack + Bluetooth headphones

*****I did a quick search and didn't see anything, so i appologize if this has been addressed. *****

Issue...Livetrack does not work when my phone is paired with by bluetooth headphones.

Equipment: Fenix 3, Samsung Galaxy S6, Jaybird Bluebuds X

Livetrack works, but a short bit into the activity the people watching get an error that there is no connection.

Livetrack works if I do not use my headphones.

I have also noticed that other data does not seem to be transferred to the Fenix3 from the phone while the headphones are connected. for example, if I look at my notifications widget while i am listening to music, it either says waiting for data or no connection (i forget which).

Thanks.
  • I have the exact same problem. It is intermittent, but happens with some regularity. I've noticed that my 920xt will lose connection with my android phone occasionally. If I'm doing LiveTrack when this happens, then the LiveTrack is lost permanently - even though my 920xt will later report that it has reconnected with my phone.

I always have bluetooth headset connected during my workouts, so I don't know if that's related or not.

Frustratingly, when this happens (an aborted LiveTrack due to loss of bluetooth connection) I cannot end the LiveTrack on my Android phone. I have to actually "Clear Data" from the Connect app (using Android Application Manager) in order to make the LiveTrack session end. Very frustrating!

I have the exact same problem with Livetrack and my Bluetooth earbuds. I'm a big fan of Bluetooth headphones so I would really appreciate if anyone has a solution to this.

Still no solution? I would really appreciate if anyone knows anything about this issue.
  • Did anyone figure this out? I'm having the same issue - pixel 3xl and Samsung Galaxy buds. If I don't have the headphones, everything works perfect. The second I use the headphones, I can barely get a connection to the watch. Live track doesn't work.

  • Well, I do not use Live Track, but the phone app continues receiving live data (i.e. HR, steps) from my watch without problems when BT headphones are connected. Is it the same case with you, or nothing is being transferred at all, when using the headphones? And when you go to BT details in the phone settings, does Garmin remain paired, when the headphones are connected?

You could try clearing the BT cache, to see wheather it helps. You can also try googling something like "phone bluetooth multiple devices conflict", better yet adding the name of your phone, to get more specific hints. You can find many tips for troubleshooting this kind of issues. You could also try it with another model of headphones, to see whether it is a more general problem, or rather a more specific conflict.

Some tips are for example here:
