LiveTrack does not reconnect after going through a mobile phone coverage blackspot

LiveTrack issue. I seem to have made the mistake of living where the mobile phone coverage is patchy. Each time I start a LiveTrack session (Samsung S5) with either my 920xt or 510 the session works as advertised until I hit that first blackspot where there is no mobile coverage. Bang, the session on the website says "connection lost" and it just does not reconnect. Live tracking doesn't seem to want to reconnect when mobile coverage is reestablished moments later? Epic fail I am afraid. Or does Garmin assume perfect mobile phone coverage?
  • Same problem here. Samsung s4 lollipop 5.0.1 , fenix 2.
I need livetrack on ultramarathons, my phone is in my backpack, I can't restart the livetrack every time I have a good mobile coverage... And I can't check it all the time. I agree, it's really an epic fail. Another problem with livetrack: sometime I can see my track/speed/distance/etc., but mostly only the blue point is showing my actual position.
    (Sorry for my bad english)
  • Same problem with Edge 1000.

I've had the same problem with my Edge 810,and Samsung S5. After the disconnect Live Track won't exit on my phone. Pretty much makes live track useless.
  • Same issue with a Edge 810 and Samsung GS6. While trying to use it on a long bike tour, it would consistently end the session during extended breaks (like stopping for lunch). Very frustrating since it worked flawlessly two years ago on a similar tour.

After being on the phone for quite a while, Garmin turned it over to "engineering" which then sent a long list of questions for me to answer. I replied on 7/1 and again on 7/14. I've yet to get any reply from them.
  • same issue... Galaxy s5 and FR920XT
  • Same thing for me

I have the exact same problem. Have yet to get through a livetrack session without it hanging up at some point either due to a lost bluetooth or a lost mobile signal.

Surely it could pick up where it left off in either scenario.

Make sure you have the latest version of Garmin Connect Mobile, they've made quite a few changes recently.
  • Was this ever resolved?  After working for me perfectly on one ride, my last two rides lost connection and the people watching could no longer track me.

    • I never had issues until now.   Using Samsung S9 &Edge 810
