Fenix 3 BT Android Pairing - Phone says paired, watch doesn't respond

I was able to connect my Fenix 3 and BT pretty quickly when I received it; however, I noticed that I was no longer paired yesterday morning when I stopped receiving notifications.

I double-checked all my settings and nothing appeared to have changed.

I unpaired my watch in my phone (Note 3) and started the process over. My phone was able to see my watch and prompted me for the numeric key on the watch. I input the key, and my phone accepts the watch. The watch says it is "Connecting", and then it immediately changes to "Ready to Pair." It subsequently says that "Pairing Failed."

I've deleted my Connect app (per other forums with almost similar problems), restarted my watch and my phone to no avail.

Has this happened to anyone else? Any fixes out there?

    Dear Richard,

Here are some troubleshooting steps that you can try:

1.Make sure that you do not have an activity going while trying to pair your Fenix 3
2.Ensure that you are not paired outside out Garmin Connect mobile app. For instance, you will need to pair your Fenix 3 through the app instead of your Bluetooth menu. You should not see the Fenix listed as "Paired" under your Bluetooth settings. If the device is listed as paired, this could be causing the issue. Forget the device from your Bluetooth settings, then pair the Fenix through the app.
    3. You may have a corrupt .FIT file on your device, which could cause some syncing issues. If you are willing, you can delete your activity folder from the device via mass storage mode on a compatible computer. For step by step instructions on how to complete this, please click here. You may also try uploading your activities before deleting the activity file via another platform such as Garmin Express. Hope this helps!

i have the exact same problem.  Fenix 3 has worked fine for 2 years, now suddenly it won't pair.  i tried the solution above, as well as hard and soft restarts and pairing with my phone bluetooth system (after restarting phone, forgetting the pairing then re-trying).  total failure.  i get to the point on the phone where i enter the code.  phone think it is connected, watch says try again.

then i disabled the bluetooth for the watch on my phone and tried to pair via the Connect app.  swing and a miss.  again.  right now this thing is dead to me.
