It is unbelievable that there are so many topics about syncing problems with different garmin devices and Garmin Connect, but here is another one.
Can anybody tell me how to properly sync the Garmin Fenix with a Samsung Galaxy S3 over bluetooth?
I experience the following:
After a workout I come home, turn on the bluetooth of the Fenix and try to sync my activity with Garmin Connect through my Samsung S3.
One (or more) of he following scenarios occur:
- The Fenix and S3 will not set up a partnership through bluetooth (occurs not that often)
- The Fenix and S3 connect, Garmin Connect tells me it is connected, but no sync occurs. I haven't found a way to manually trigger a sync yet.
- The Fenix and S3 connect, Garmin Connect tells me it is connected, a sync starts and within 2 seconds it tells me the sync is completed. As you can guess... the activity is not uploaded
- The Fenix and S3 connect, Garmin Connect tells me it is connected, a sync starts and within 2 seconds I get a red synchronisation error.
To get it to sync properly I do the following:
- sometimes it is enough to restart the Fenix
- sometimes I have to turn off/on bluetooth on the Fenix and/or the S3
- sometimes I have to re-establish the bluetooth pairing between the Fenix and the S3
- sometimes I have to kill the Garmin Connect application through task manager in the S3
- And sometime I have to perform all actions above before Syncing starts again.
And...last but not least. Can anyone (garmin support maybe?) explain to me why the synchronisation of an activity can easely take up to 15 minutes over bluetooth? If I look at the FIT filesize on the watch it is approximately 50KB to 200KB in size. Bluetooth must be able to transfer that in seconds.
