Fenix 3 Bluetooth Pairing Fails

I cannot pair my Fenix 3 with the Garmin Connect Android App on my Xperia Z1 Compact.

The Fenix 3 has been registered with my Garmin Connect account through Garmin Express.
My Home Wireless network has been set up.
The device even shows up on my list of devices in the Garmin Connect Android App

I initiate pairing from the Fenix 3, which goes into 'Ready to Pair'. Then select 'Pair Device' in Garmin Connect Android App..... The search begins and after a minute of so I get the 'Device Not Found' message on the phone

I already have an Edge 1000, which has paired with the phone/app without problem

    Bluetooth paring Samsung S3

The Garmin Fenix 3 pairs succesfully with a Samsung S3!

    1. Install the Garmin Connect Mobile App
    2. Activate your Samsung S3 bluetooth setting and set the Phone visible to other devices.
    3. Activate bluetooth on your Fenix 3 via Settings->Bluetooth->Status
    4. Link your Fenix 3 with your Phone via Settings->Bluetooth->Link Mobile Device
    5. Enter the code on your mobile device that is displayed on your watch.
    6. Let the Connect Mobile App do all the sync steps (sometimes the first time fails on transferring the device id - make sure the fenix software is on the latest version (currently v3.60))
    7. Executed a test with turning bluetooth off and on the fenix 3 and it finds the Samsung S3 again without a problem.

    Hello Airforce,

what is the Version of your Android?
Seems that S3 with 4.3 looses connection after about 2h. Reconnection by turning off and on BLE on Phone 1 to 3 times -> not ok!

    Thanks

Next try wirh samsung also failes

As i wrote, my first F3 had no problems at all with pairing.

When i got back my replaced F3, i first updatet from v3.2 to v3.6 and also updatet GPS and BT firmware.
I forget to check the pairing before updating :-(
Second i forget to delete my existing f3 in GC.

So i can't say if pairing worked out of the box.
Now i tried to pair to an Samsung Galaxy, F3 was found via BT, also in the Samsung BT App (but no chance for pairing), but then i get a "timeout" while pairing via GC-Mobile.

Is there any chance to reinstall an older firmware, also fpr the BT and GPS firmware ???

I have tried all suggested way to fix BT reconnection issue between my F3 and Samsung Note 3 but no success...
Once the BT is swiched off or connection lost because out of range, the reconnection does not work automatically. In order to reconnect the devices I need to restart my Note 3. Once restarted it reconnects. Removing F3 from connect, clearing cache of connect does not help. Note 3 and F3 does not see each other. I need to restart my phone to fix.
Any idea how to fix this?

Yep, attempting to connect directly using your phone's Bluetooth settings doesn't work - but firing up Garmin Connect and initiating a connection from there (you'll need to switch Bluetooth on beforehand) works a treat.

    Found a solution for myself

    Hello , sorry for my english ; - ) )
I have a fenix 3 updated to the latest software release , I tried to pair it with your Bluetooth samsung s5 and s6 but fenix was recognized by the smartphone but not by fenix . The test was done in a shopping center with different smartphone samsung .... Indeed smartphone appeared fenix 3 while the clock display the Bluetooth continued to search for the device .... I work in IT and the solution could be a new release of firmware for garmin fenix 3 , because it is impossible that in 2015 not be able to pair two Bluetooth devices after years of Bluetooth technology .

    Hi there,

Make sure your Fenix 3 is not paired with the phone in a "regular" way. Go to Bluetooth menu in the phone, if your FX3 is paired, unpair it. Then I assume you already have Garmin Connect installed in your phone. Open Garmin Connect app and follow the instructions in "Add a device". Voila! It worked for me.
  • You have to use the Garmin Connect App

It works flawlessly through the app, thats the correct way to pair it.

    Good luck.
