    Minimal vertical movement

Yes I understand that much, but how do I know if the graph is showing a bad sleep pattern or a good one? There are no indications on the graph to suggest a deep sleep or REM sleep. There are markings on the horizontal line of the graph that suggest the time (hourly). The vertical line has markings that are so faint, one can hardly read the markings. What do the markings on the vertical represent? What does my sleep pattern indicate? I found the Jawbone sleep tracking graph more informative. I'd still be using it if it wasn't for it's poor design.

I am an ex polar flow/loop user and the sleep data in flow was much clearer too. The question was asked on a vivosmart facebook page and someone came back to say that they thought as long as the graph didnt go above the middle line then that was good sleep, but I have yet to find an official explanation of the graph and its meanings.
Having communicated with Garmin support about this I was requested to send a sample of the sleep data I had in polar flow to them which I did, they then requested I log this as a request for the development team here:
    http://www8.garmin.com/contactUs/ideas/form.html

I know they are developing the connect software all the time but clarification of what the current graph means would be very useful I agree.

Thank you gillyfoot, this reply has been the best explanation so far.

Is that why with the Polar 400, I was being marked as "sleeping" for the one or two hours I was watching TV at night, or the nights where it said I only slept 2 hours for some odd reason? No vendor gives you real data. "sleep tracking" is simply a marketing tool, and fairly worthless in actual use..... :)

A primary reason I bought the 920 was the sleep tracking. I love my UP and get useful data for sleep patterns. The 920 sleep data sucks, and I have kept my UP for sleep data (and didnt get to sell the UP to help pay for the 920). Until the 920 gives deep sleep vs light sleep data, it is useless as far as I am concerned.
