Sony Xperia M Bluetooth

Hi guys!
A few weeks ago I bought a new vivosmart. However, when I tried to pair it with my Sony xperia m, I got this message telling me that "my android-device is not compatible with bluetooth smart". I was a bit surprised, as I was quite sure that Garmin had claimed that the xperia series is compatible with Garmin connect. But I decided to just stick to my computer for now and wait till I eventually buy a new smartphone.
Recently, however, I came across my bluetooth settings on my xperia and I saw that it found the vivosmart perfectly fine. I tried to pair and it worked as well. I tried it using the app again and it didn't work. Later I tried it with an older smartphone and it didn't even find the vivosmart. So I guess if my xperia really wouldn't be able to pair via bluetooth smart, it just wouldn't be able to find the vivosmart, right? I read a bit more and -according to the internet - bluetooth smart is basically everything above bluetooth 4.0. Which - again according to the internet - my phone has: Bluetooth 4.0.
Ok, so I do realize that the internet is not always the safest place for informations. So I just ask here in the forums now. (Which... ahem... Is the internet too... ;)
Is my sony xperia m actually compatible with garmin connect and there's just a bug in the app or is one of my informations or my way of thinking completely wrong? :p
It would be quite awesome if it would actually work...
Well, hope some of you can help me with my problem.
Till then have a wonderfull day :)

  • Although the Sony Xperia M has Bluetooth 4.0 it would seem that there is a bug in it which Sony don't seem to be willing to fix. I am having the same trouble connecting it to my current activity tracker and it is an issue with respect to purchasing any of the Garmin wearables at the moment. I had my eye on a VivoActive but not much point if I can't use it with my phone!
