GCM 2.73 and VivoSmart F/W 2.90 - Bluetooth connection problems continue

So, I updated to GCM 2.7.3 on my Samsung Galaxy Note II, hoping it may be able to resolve the Bluetooth reconnection problem I had been having (as outlined in my earlier thread: https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?185150-Vivosmart-new-troubles-after-2-7-2-Connect-Mobile-update).

But still I have the same problem. If the phone switches off, or the app is exited, the Bluetooth disconnects and will not reconnect unless the vivosmart is removed and re-paired in the app.

I own numerous pieces of Garmin hardware (Fish finder, handheld GPS units, Edge 305 + 510 and now a Vivosmart) and it appears that the quality of the operation of these items has taken a significant drop in the recent past. Both my most recent purchases (the Edge 510 and the Vivosmart) have both been problematic since day 1.

This is getting RIDICULOUS! How can someone market an integrated environment when most of the time the key item provided data cannot even connect to it!

Get your act together Garmin - I had been considering getting a Virb Elite for my bike, but think I'll be steering clear of Garmin hardware in future!

A long time and recently very disappointed Garmin customer :mad:

    Tim, you've been very patient, and we appreciate that. Please try:
    * GCM ver 2.7.4 (just published to Google Play moments ago)
    * Vivosmart ver 3.0
  • * GCM ver 2.7.4 (just published to Google Play moments ago)
    * Vivosmart ver 3.0

    Same problems here with Samsung S3. No changes with new GCM v2.7.4 an vivosmart v.3.0.0.. For a couple of times the reconnect works, then it has to be removed in GCM App and must be paired again. If vivosmart is paired, it is not shown in the bluetooth device overview. Pairing in Bluetooth Menu outside GCM App isn't possible.

    Frustrating.
  • @Mi.Fu72 - What version of Android does your S3 have? Which carrier version is it?

    Same problem with my S3 running 4.3 (I9300XXUGNA8)
    Just testing lates android app 2.7.4 with 3.0 onto vivosmart

    So far no changes .. Same issue

    When out on Bluetooth doesn't reconnect automatically

    Very frustrating
    Please garmin fix this point
    This phone is into the compatibility list
  • The same problem with my S3 (Android 4.3, GCM 2.7.4, vivosmart 3.0)
    I am able to succesfully pair vivosmart with my phone but afterwards reconnection is impossible.
    When I press "sync" icon on vivosmart I got the message "No Bluetooth Connection".

    Can't sync by mobile !!!

    OK - finally had a chance to update to Vivosmart 3.0 today.

    Have also upgraded my phone to a Note 4 (Android 4.4.4).

    Seems to be operating OK for the moment.

    Fingers crossed I'm not speaking too soon!

    Cheers

    Yep - spoke too soon. Back to the no bluetooth reconnection problem.

    Two weeks owning a vivosmart...two firmware updates and two GCM updates, and no damn better.

    Get your act together garmin...

    Edit:
    And to top it all off, I can't even get the vivosmart and the phone to re pair now...HOPELESS.

    This may sound very basic but did you restart your phone after the upgrade? I really haven't had the problems you have had but when I upgraded, what you describe happened to me. I restarted my phone and the problem has not reappeared.
  • In addition, please make sure you are following the pairing steps as defined in this post:

    https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?185151-Having-Bluetooth-Connectivity-Problems-Read-me

    It is important that you pair from within the app, and not through your Bluetooth settings.
