syncing mfp to Garmin vivosmart

Good morning!
I saw several threads re not being able to sync the vivosmart TO mfp, but none seemed to be the problem I'm experiencing (unless I misread). My problem is that I enter foods into mfp, and log calories but it does not sync with the Garmin. I loaded both apps onto my Galaxy s5 (I am a brand new user of any fitness tracking app,but I used a different food log in the past.) The vivofit app under "calories" at the prompt "add food" clearly indicates it will open mfp, which it does, yet for some reason the two are not communicating. Mfp accepts and calculates my calories but they do not show up in the Garmin app. Makes no sense to have the app linked to another app or website that you do not support? Am I missing something? I have not tried to use other features of either site very extensively yet so I'm not sure what else works/communicates or doesn't.
Thanks in advance, I look forward to using this new tool to the fullest extent

I am having the same issue on an iPhone device. It has the option to connect in mfp but that brings me to the Garmin website and nothing happens from there... I am sure I am missing a step?

I started using this device Nov.21
The day I started i had the same issue . I wasted hours trying to figure out what I was doing wrong. The problem is not you. It is between Garmin and MFP. It did clear up and worked great after A couple days. But the problem is back and has been for about 4 days now. I am hoping it is because all the app support folks are on holiday and they will fix this soon. You raised a great question about why does Garmin pair with an app they do not have a relationship with?
Garmin if you read this I like your device when it works with the MFP but I am considering trading it in for the fit bit if every month this continues. I bought my device from REI i can return it anytime for any reason.
As a suggestion maybe the Garmin help team should send automatic notices when the system goes down so we know you are working on it.

There are reports of ongoing problems, however I think the question is how to connect? the link from MFP to garmin seems to be dead. I found in another thread that the only apparent way to connect Garmin Connect and MFP is via the Calories In/Out widget. In there is a button to connect the two accounts together. Beyond that, I dont think the sync is automatic, unless that is the part that is broken.

Are you referring to the button that takes you to mfp? That doesn't connect them. At least it doesn't for me, and I don't see another button.

I bought this because I thought it was supposed to sync with mfp. I feel like I was ripped off.

Sorry I wasnt more detailed in my original reply. You need to logon to Garmin Connect on the web, and go to the calories in/out widget. In the top right corner there is a gear icon. click on that, and it will take you to another panel where you can connect your Garmin account to your MFP account.
  • Note there is currently an issue between Garmin Connect and mfp that is being worked on. This on the mfp site:

We are doing our best to work with Garmin to try to get all issues resolved as quickly as possible. In light of the holidays, the fix is taking a bit longer than we anticipated. We will post updates to the issue via the following link: https://myfitnesspal.desk.com/customer/portal/articles/1804316-not-seeing-garmin-exercise-adjustment-since-12-18-updated-12-23-

I checked the link. It says there is a fix. However MFP still does not sync with my Garmin Connect with any information at all. None of my calories or workout information. I did go into settings on both apps and it should sync. Please help. Thanks
