Fenix 2 + Bluetooth connection = Pair device problem

Former Member
Former Member
I tried to pair Fenix 2 and Android Connect program.
When I click on Pair device window - I can see on the pair connection code and Connect searching and searching for device.
In 1-2 minutes I've got message Connection timeout. - "Timeout while connecting"

Please watch video example -

Any idea how to fix this problem?

P.S. I tested my smartphone
I connected to my Bluetooth headphones without problem. This mean - Bluetooth connection is ok. :-)

Connection via USB cable - works great.

ok, I've contacted with Garmin Support department. Let's wait for response.
It's very interesting - what's the response time from Garmin Support? Do you know ?
  • I just looked at you video and it actually looks like an issue outside of GCM and is to do with maybe your phone's notification settings
I don't have the same phone or even watch (920XT) but I understand that the process is the same
I tried pairing my watch on three different phones (Sony, Motorola and a OnePlus) and all three do the same behaviour

Namely.. after you click on the Yes to pair it popup.. you get a bluetooth pairing request in your notifcations dropdown (outside of GCM) which you need to click on
And then you get another one that you need to enter the pin for.
All of this is outside of GCM so I reckon it is in your phone settings somewhere
(I am not a Garmin person etc so not trying to shift the blame outside of their products honest :-))

The timeout you get is becuase GCM is expecting that the pairing is being handled outside of the app.. and when it doesn't it timesout

Here is a really rough video which shows how it works on the three android phones i have paired with
    Really hope this helps

I've connected to Fenix2 outside of Garmin Connect. You are right. I need to pair device outside of program. It's better to use phone native connection settings - see Bluetooth settings. You can pair device here.
THe Fenix2 was paired. I'm waiting for finish of synchronization more 30 minutes...after that I've got on Fenix 2 - Finished.
When I tried to refresh my activity - I've got message - Upload error. :-( That's all ... I'll try to demonstrate it in video soon.
