Nothing will sync after latest app update

I have a vivofit and a Forerunner 220, and have had no trouble before today syncing them with the Garmin Connect app. Since the latest app update, neither one will connect to my phone. I put the 220 in pairing mode, my phone can see it and displays the right passkey, but when it tries to connect, it'll time out. The vivofit just won't connect at all.

I'm running a Moto X, updated firmware for the vivofit and 220. I think it's just the latest app update broke something.

The vivofit and the fenix 2 both use Bluetooth Smart (BLE) to connect wirelessly to your smartphone. Please check to see if your phone supports BLE and also look to see if your phone model is included in our compatible phones list. We have a number of phones we have tested and verified. The list can be found at the link below:
    BLE compatible phones

If your phone is listed and you are still have difficulty pairing see the links below for general pairing instructions.
    vivofit pairing instructions
    fenix 2 pairing instructions

In addition to phone compatibility, check to make sure your devices have the latest version of unit software and you are using the latest version of Garmin Connect Mobile.

My phone can do pair correctly with my fenix, GCMAndroid recognizes correctly the fenix, my fenix receives and displays correctly the notification from my phone....so is my phone compatible? I think yes, but in any case the sync of the Activities does not work at all! It gives always the same "upload error" like to a lot of other users...

like I said, my devices were syncing properly with my phone before the update. So my phone is definitely capable. Everything is on the latest software version. But now nothing will sync. I have to remove the device and re-pair it every single time that I want to sync it. Definitely an unwieldy solution.
