Can't get vivofit to pair with galaxy s3

So I've followed the simple instructions but they won't pair. The pair #'s match but then it just hangs ans says "connecting to device....".
Also, when I try to connect through the gs3 bluetooth settings, it finds the vivofit but then says "unable to communicate with vivofit".
Has anyone come across this and/or have any suggestions as to how to fix.

    Thank you so much for posting. I have had the same issue and have been messing with it on and off for a week now. I have scoured the internet and have not found an answer so far but I am glad to hear I don't have a unique situation. I'm guessing it has to do with the newest android update. Are you running version 4.4? I hope Garmin comes up with a solution soon, I am mere moments from returning mine out of frustration.

    Yes, it is very frustrating but I'm afraid it's more of a samsung problem then it is a garmin one. I went to the samsung service center and they wiped my phone (which was also very frustrating) and my GS3 worked great with my vivofit for about an hour... now im back to the same pairing issue. The one pro is that at least I got to do the initial pairing so I can at least use the vivofit without the app. Which is better than nothing. I'm heading back to samsung today to see if there is anything else they can do, I will keep you posted.

    Galaxy S3 here too. followed the vivofit manual, enabled bluetooth visible from any device on phone, got thru the first screen on the garmin app ...and then on to next screen "Setting up device" shows details of "Time out while connecting to device"....repeats ad nauseum. Galaxy S3 is supposedly a compatible device.
    Lost cause? sigh.

    Hi, I thought I was having the same issues. It wasn't pairing initially and always disconnecting after several seconds.
    I deleted an app which reads txts while I drive and it finally connected and syncs fine now. I'm assuming because it affected the bluetooth.
    Perhaps there's an app in your S3 which conflicts with garmin connect/bluetooth.
