fenix 2 not listed in Garmin Connect Android app and unable to connect

I paired my fenix 2 with my phone - no problems.
I downloaded the Garmin Connect app to my Samsung Galaxy S5 - no problems.
I logged in with my Garmin Connect credentials - no problems (it pulled in my devices and other information from the Garmin Connect website, and it looked like this was going to be a smooth process).

Although my fenix 2 is paired with my phone, and appears in the list of devices in the Garmin Connect app, it is not "connected" to the Garmin Connect app - no "details" are listed, just dashes [--]. The Bluetooth symbol is listed in on the right side of the screen, across from the name fenix 2.

My fenix 2 is in Sync mode and the display indicates that it is connecting.

I clicked the refresh button on the app (circle with arrow), and the fenix 2 details did not appear.

I clicked the + button to add a device. However, fenix 2 is not listed as an available device. The available devices include: Edge 510 and 810, Forerunner 220 and 620, and vivofit. I clicked "Don't see your device?" and the next screen says that my Garmin device may not have Bluetooth.

Frustrated, I uninstalled the app and re-installed it. Shut off my watch and turned it back on - same with my phone. Verified that my Bluetooth is turned on, and that my fenix 2 is "syncing" and I got the same result - nothing.

The goal is to connect my watch to my phone and upload activities without having to clip it to the computer. If you have tips, I'm all ears.

Thanks!
David

**UPDATE** My fenix 2 software is current (Version 2.60).
