Known Issue: Sync Issue with Edge 510/810

We are currently aware of various issues occurring when initially attempting to sync an Edge 510/810 using the Garmin Connect Mobile. This issue may include a red "sync error" appearing at the bottom of the screen.

This issue will be fixed with an update to Garmin Connect Mobile, which should be released soon.

If you are experiencing this issue, the following temporary workaround can be attempted until the update is released:

NOTE: Before following these steps, please manually upload the rides from your Edge device to the Garmin Connect website. You can do this by following the steps listed in the following FAQ article: How do I manually upload data from USB devices to Garmin Connect?

1. Power on your Edge device.
2. Tap on the "Folders" icon.
3. Scroll down and Tap on "Delete".
4. Tap on "All Rides".
5. Tap on the Check Mark to confirm deletion.
6. Once deleted, reboot both the Edge and Android device.

You should will now be able to sync new rides from your Edge to the Garmin Connect Mobile Android app without experiencing this error.

    Any help on horizon?

    We're in the middle of June and I still have sync problems on bluetooth between the 510 & iphone.
    There's always a sync error uploading the ride to the iphone if I'm not on wireless. Just being connected by bluetooth doesn't sync so what's the point
    of having the iphone app ? Just sync straight to Strava please, end of problem !


    I was able to sync through bluetooth for 2 months after purchase... now nothing. What's up and when will it be fixed? I see others have had same issue. The #1 reason why I bought the 510 was for WIRELESS upload through my phone when I did the Southern Tier cross country bike ride. Sometimes it is just plain impossible to plug USB into a laptop!! I use a Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

    Still waiting for a fix. This is a disgrace. Are you incompetent or do you not care? I've spent a fortune on a device at does not work

    Now Garmin ignore our comments completely, no response or any word at all........

    There were a few upgrades in the last 3 weeks, but nothing related to the major problem; still no BT connection between the phone and device. No live track or whatsoever.

    Will add to other's comments: with 510, Garmin device does not "see" either my iPhone or Blackberry Z30 in it's Bluetooth enable window. Hmm. Any go 'round for this? Thanks, Calgary Alberta Canada

    This is not a solution, I have two weeks riding in Europe that I will never do again

    The blue tooth upload to Garmin Connect occasionally works, maybe one time in 20, if you hold your tongue the right way and the planets are aligned. I have a new iPhone 5c and an Edge 510.

    Still experiencing sync issues Garmin 810

    August 10th 2014 and still issues with synchronization.

    Please Garmin give us a deadline when this problem will be resolved or provide at least an update regarding the status of this problem?

    Device 810 Software version 3.00
    Connected via bluetooth to my ipad

  • "Instant"??? uhmmm please check the date of the post started by Garmin about this bug! 5 months already and no fix, i wouldn't call that instant reply

    I have sent two emails to product support about this issue, each time receiving an automatic reply that they will respond within 3 days. Still waiting one month on for a human response. Very poor product support and customer service and looking at the length of time this sync issue has been around without some sort of progression on the issue, poorly made products and management. To advertise the unit (I am referring to an Edge 510) that does not perform to some of its more lauded features is really very poor. And to just bury their heads in the sand whilst throwing up the mantra that a fix is coming is really not good enough. They should provide a full refund.....
  • I'm also experiencing sync problems with my Edge 810. The error occurs when synchronising with garmin connect when connected via USB and by Bluetooth.

    Is there a fix? I've tried deleting all rides \ courses from the device (as suggested) but no luck.
