Sorry I posted this in another forum, not sure which one is best:

If I had a selfloops ant+ dongle, and garmin connect app, can the edge 800 work with these for live tracking?

(on an android)

Thanks

Because the Garmin Connect Mobile application wasn't written using APIs provided by ANT Wireless, it is not compatible with a SelfLoops ANT+ dongle. Some Android phone have ANT+ built into them, however it is up to the manufacturer to enable that functionality on the phone. Below is a list of current Android phones that have ANT+ enabled:

    HTC Rhyme
    Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman
    Sony Ericsson Xperia Active
    Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc
    Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S
    Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini
    Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro
    Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo
    Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo V
    Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro
    Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray
    Sony Ericsson Xperia X8
    Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini
Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro

In addition, we cannot guarantee compatibility with ANT+ accessories on every ANT+ enabled Android device.
  • See my reply in the other thread, basically selfloops has an app that would seem to do this on android phones.

I don't think this would work. The Edge 800 does not support this, so it will not send its position over ANT+.
For the Edge 800, ANT+ is only for receiving data from sensors (ie heart rate, cadence). It can't transmit data to any other devices.

I think you're missing all the Samsung Galaxy S4, Note2, Note3, and tablet series that support ANT+

The list I provided does appear to be a little outdated. ThisIsAnt.com has a more updated list of Android phones that are ANT+ enabled, which can be found by clicking here. I apologize for any confusion.
