Garmin Connect: great hardware, terrible software design The
Garmin Connect 2024 redesign was a major step backwards. The old home screen was compact and data-rich: open the app, scroll, and quickly see activities and statistics.
Now we have enormous tiles, excessive empty space and far less information visible on a phone screen. “At a Glance” is no longer at a glance. This is particularly poor design for runners, cyclists and hikers. We want efficient access to activities, training, recovery and health data—not a glossy brochure requiring extra taps and swipes. Recent activities should be immediately accessible from the home screen.
Then there is Garmin’s obsession with Golf. Golf gets disproportionate prominence and even consumes Fenix storage with maps many owners will never use. People primarily buy Fenix watches for running, hiking, cycling, multisport and outdoor navigation—not because they need a huge rugged watch to play golf. Garmin already knows which activities each user does. Let us remove Golf completely and prioritize the sports we actually practice. Excellent watches and excellent data deserve a much better interface.
We need to bring this up to Garmin for all runners, hikers and cyclist out there...
