Forerunner 570 notifications stuck on “Waiting for data” while Bluetooth stays connected to Xiaomi 11T

Hi,

I’ve been using my Garmin Forerunner 570 for about one week.
The watch is permanently connected via Bluetooth to my Xiaomi 11T, and all permissions have been granted to Garmin Connect (notifications, battery optimization disabled, background activity allowed, etc.).

My issue is that notifications on the watch regularly display “Waiting for data”, even though the watch still appears connected to the phone. Synchronization works correctly and the status in Garmin Connect shows “Connected”.

The problem happens randomly during the day. Sometimes notifications work again after a while, but the issue keeps coming back.

Has anyone experienced this issue with Xiaomi phones or found a reliable fix?

    Personally, I’ve run into this on my Epix (Gen 2) paired with a Samsung Galaxy phone when I didn’t grant all permissions, specifically the Location permission set to “Allow all the time.” On my Samsung that setting matters because it controls the Bluetooth LE background channel Garmin uses. Not sure if Xiaomi has the same option, but it’s worth checking whatever their equivalent is.
