Instinct 2 Solar notification and weather issues

Hello,

For a long time since initial use of Instinct 2 Solar watch I noticed the following:

- Not all the notifications from Android phone displayed on watch, some of them are just not delivered
- Build-in Weather widget with % (rain) does not correspond current weather while alternative widget "Instinct weather" displays weather correctly
- Watch vibrates sometimes without any notification on phone
- Software version is 17.08 (d3b282d)

I did previously software reset on watch, phone and all that didn't help.

Is this issue specific to this model with Unit ID 3420056665 ?

Thank you.

Best regards,

Anton

  • If you are seeing issues with your phone receiving notifications on the Android phone you may need to adjust the notifications settings:

    1. Open the Garmin Connect App

    2. Select More (bottom right).

    3. Select Settings.

    4. Select Notifications.

    5. Select App Notifications.

Now toggle to enable/disable all smart notifications or customize by selecting individual apps.

  • Hi Garmin - AL,

Unfortunately, this still does not address the issue.

As I mentioned previously, both the watch and the Garmin Connect app on Android are behaving unexpectedly.

Firstly, there are random vibrations on the watch that are not associated with any notifications, which should not happen at all.

In addition, Garmin Connect appears to require an excessive number of Android system permissions, and it seems the notification integration with Android has not been implemented correctly. Even when the phone is in Do Not Disturb mode, notifications are still being forwarded to the watch previously on Sony and now on Samsung phone.

Regarding the Garmin Instinct 3 Solar, I am also disappointed with the colour options. Did the product design team consider that removing the black version of the Garmin Instinct 3 Solar and replacing it with “Parrot Orange” and “Parrot Gold” may have reduced the number of users willing to upgrade from previous Garmin Instinct Solar models?

    Best regards,
    AA

  • If you can please connect the watch via charging cable to a computer and sync with Garmin Express. This should put the watch through a soft reset (even if you have already performed one manually on the watch) and may resolve the vibration.
