Despite the major "Winter 2026" software updates that added gear tracking and better course planning, Garmin still hasn't updated the core graphing engine for activity heart rate.
- The Problem: The app uses a fixed-buffer algorithm. For an athlete like me with your "outlier" range (48 RHR to 190 Max), the app chooses a massive 70–220 bpm window.
- The "Squash": Because I spend most of your ride in the 140–160 range, I'm only utilizing about 20% of the available vertical pixels. Rotating the screen makes MUCH this worse because you lose vertical height to gain horizontal width, flattening the peaks even more.
Is Garmin ever going to fix this problem? I believe this rotated screen was much better previously?
