Cycling ability history not updating

I have power meter and use chest HR sensor every time I use my bike, multiple times per week. However, I can see only single dot in Cycling ability stats and, as far as I can tell, my current Cycling abilities are frozen and might be disconnected from stats on my watch (Fenix 7).

In Connect app I'm Challenger while on the watch I'm endurance specialist. Due to the watch size and lack of numerical values it is hard to tell if values are the same in both places, but I think they are not.

Not sure if that matters but I have active training plan (thus the mark for course demands), which I follow more or less. And I have Edge 540, which is linked with my account but currently permanently switched off because I ride only indoors (winter time).

I see updates in Training load, Load focus, Endurance score, etc., but cannot view history (or even current "true" values) for Cycling ability.

Cycling ability is based on VO₂max (besides a 7-days training history, and an established power curve), so first of all check the VO₂max stats and see whether there are any updates. If not, then the most common reason for it, is a wrongly set Max HR in your User Profile. That can happen easily when the auto-detection is enabled, due to a malfunction of the HRM. Make sure to set it right (best doing a lab or a field test, and not using the highest HR value you find in your stats!). Vo2max is recorded fine. All other stats are working as excpected. Just not Cycling ability.

Do you also have an established Power Curve? (see Viewing Power Curve in Garmin Connect | Garmin Customer Support)

If that one is available too, then I suggest contacting the Support and giving them all these details.

I think this is your problem. As far as I can determine the Fenix does not provide Cycling Ability. Switch on your Edge and let it synchronise. No need to actually record any training with it.

It does. At least the documentation claims it: Understanding Garmin Cycling Ability and Event Profiles | Garmin Customer Support (see the list of compatible devices there)

In my case, Cycling Ability only updates when I've synced my Edge 840. My Fenix 7 S Pro Solar is set as both Primary Wearable AND Primary Training Device.

Maybe mire advanced stats require Edge. This small blip on screen with historical data coincidents with the time I bought Edge and synced it with my account. Then I turned it off.

Do you record your activities on Fenix or Edge?

Garmin support is investigating this issue. I will post the result if they find the reason.

Have you tried switching it back on?

When I'm cycling outside I use my Edge. Indoors I'm using Tacx. I don't get Cycling Ability updates if only using Tacx, even though I sync my Fenix regularly.
