No activity maps in Garmin Connect since January 2026

I’m seeing missing maps in Garmin Connect for outdoor Running and Walking activities on a Venu 2.
• Distance, pace, HR all correct
• Elevation profile present and accurate
• No map tab at all in Garmin Connect
• Strava also has no map (synced from Garmin)

What I’ve checked:
• GPS set to GPS Only
• Waited for solid green GPS lock
• Activity not marked Indoor
• Issue started in early January

Since elevation data is recorded but no GPS track appears, it seems like location points aren’t being saved despite GPS lock.

Has anyone seen this on Venu 2?
Is this a known firmware/profile issue, and is a factory reset the fix?

Elevation data comes from the barometric altimeter, not from GPS. Can you see your current location, when you open the GPS menu and wait for the satellite lock? Could you post a link to one of your activities with this issue?

Probably not a general problem, because there would be more people reporting it. Best asking on the Venu 2 forum.

However, it is always worth of trying to reinstall the latest software. I am not familiar with Venu 2, but on outdoor watches, you can do it from the Developer menu that is accessible after pressing 8 times the Light button while on the menu Settings » System » About. Though, as far as I can see, Venu 2 does not have the buttons on the left side, so am not sure whether it has this option. Perhaps it works with the right upper button, on Venu2. Again, best asking on the Venu 2 forum. You can also use an older firmware version, downgrade and later update again. You'd have to find a matching beta version package on the Beta Program forum.

Whether a master reset helps or not, depends on the reason of the failure. And since we do not know it, we can't tell you. Certainly worth of trying, if nothing else helps. First of all, I'd start with a simple force-reboot of the watch - sync, then press the Light button for some 30s till it completely shuts down (hold the button through the emergency alert, if it comes), wait little bit, and then restart. No worry, no data or settings will be lost with it. And again, since it looks Venu 2 does not have the Light (left upper) button, I'd try the right one (or ask on the Venu 2 forum again).
