This is a note to help others who may encounter problems using a Vivofit device with Garmin Connect. I spent hours trying to solve the problem of date and time not being downloaded and updated to the watch and the activities not being uploaded to Garmin Connect.
I replaced the battery to a Garmin Vivofit 3 watch version 3.40 in January 2026. The watch was added to the Garmin Connect v5.21 app on a smartphone with Android 15. Pairing and Syncing of the watch was working fine (green dot present and round symbol rolling) but the date and time would not refresh on the watch and activity data would not upload to Garmin Connect. However I could modify the "Device Settings" > "Display Options" like the "Watch Face", the "Screen Mode" and add/remove "Visible Screens" in "Normal Use" or "When Timer Is On" (like Steps, Distance, Calories) and these parameters would refresh on the watch!!!
I removed the app from the phone, removed the device from the Garmin Connect account, removed the battery from the watch, used Garmin Express on MSWindows, but the date and time continued without updating itself on the watch and activities continued without uploading to Garmin Connect... until I completed a RESET on the watch (check the section of the Owner's Manual, "Resetting the Device").
In order to reset the device, simply press and hold the button during approximately 15 seconds. The watch screen will scroll through "START" > "SYNC" > "PAIR" > "ABOUT". Keep holding the button until getting a WHITE TRIANGLE. Reset will be completed and you can then pair and sync the watch adequately with the Garmin Connect app afterwards.
