Cycling activities imported from fit file not counted in challenges

Hello, I usually record virtual Cycling activities with the external app mywhoosh, then I export the .fit file and import in Garmin connect.

I can see without errors the activities uploaded on Garmin connect, but from about un week, these activities are not counted anymore in the monthly challenges.

They only appear as performed activities, but not considered for challenges (kms challenges or count of activities challenges).

Is anyone encountering this bug? Is there a fix?

Thank you Slight smile

  • Only activities logged with a Garmin device counts for the challenges. Previously MyWhoosh apparently added an Edge device as the device and that is why it worked before.

  • I just wanted to say I think this is ridiculous. I own a multiple Garmin devices and have given Garmin thousands of dollars. Why do I have to double log my Zwift activities on my Edge or Fenix device just to get challenge progress? It just makes the user experience worse and I don't see how it detracts anything from Garmins side to just offer challenge progress on automatically or manually imported activities from other platforms regardless if a garmin device was used or not. All your accomplishing is making me less likely to continue buying Garmin products and services..

  • I don't view Connect as a data aggregator in the same way as, say, Strava. While Connect is (largely) free, I don't expect Garmin to offer the same benefits to folk using "competitive" platforms. Maybe they should offer a subscription level whereby users of non-Garmin products get the option to enter the same Badges/Challenges?

You do not have to double log any activities. If you have a Garmin device, connect your indoor bike to it, and record it only with it. Disconnect Zwift completely from Garmin Connect. It is the cleanest possible option. There is nothing coming from Zwift that Garmin needs to calculate all the fitness and performance metrics, so you can keep Zwift completely isolated, and get the expected badges.

I'd agree If I didn't own any garmin products and was using Connect like I'd use a free tier of Strava. I wouldn't expect to just be given training status etc for free. But since I have three Garmin devices connected/registered to my Connect account, why not just give me the progress?

I'd be okay with that if it worked flawlessly but I've had multiple instances with my Edge device taking over control of my trainer despite Zwift being started first and the resistance changing and not taking the Zwift elevation change or my ERG workout resistance. On top of that, when logging indoor rides on my Edge then every activity is just listed as "Indoor cycling". I like being able to go back and see what route/event I did without having to manually rename it.

Also as far as I know recording Zwift with Edge does not take elevation into account at all resulting in incorrect distance and 0  elevation, but that may have changed since I tried it last..
