Venu 3s still not connecting to Google assistant after android 16

In another thread, Garmin - Tracey said android 16 would fix the problem of the venu 3s not connecting to the Google Assistant. I finally got android 16 two weeks ago and the phone will not connect with Google assistant to the Venu 3s. This is absolutely ridiculous. It's a huge selling point on the watch yet it has never worked. I can see on the phone screen that Google Assistant gets triggered and I get the Google chime. The assistant waits a really long time for a response and it'll actually chime up to three separate times before the venu 3s eventually pops up with the response it was unable to connect. The Google Assistant doesn't self close until after i get the failure notification on the venu 3s

  • same for Venu 3 here with Android 16 (Flip 7)

  • phone will not connect with Google assistant to the Venu 3s
same for Venu 3 here with Android 16 (Flip 7)

I have reached out to both of you via email to gather additional information for this concern.

  • I emailed you yesterday, October 27th, but I want to make sure you got the message. I have a Samsung s24 ultra, running Android 16, and I no longer have the ability to set Bixby as my default assistant. Google is the only option. How would you like for me to proceed?

  • Update.... Still haven't heard back from Garmin SP even though I returned their email and replied here and it been ALMOST TWO WEEKS.

There is a NEW wrinkle with the Garmin Venu3s and Google Assistant. Over the last 2 days, I have randomly gotten the watch to connect to Google assistant. That hasn't happened in months.

However, the watch is minimizing the voice volume by itself and takes it down to no sound. So, I can't hear any reply that I might get through the watch because the watch has no voice volume. I go into settings, the voice volume is down as low as it can go. I increase it to maximum but the next time Google Assistant actually connects, I have no volume on the watch again and when I go into settings, the voice volume slider is all the way to the left again.

Then I go through a period where Google won't connect to the phone again. When it finally does connect, one again there is NO sound and when I check in settings the voice setting is all the way to the left so there is no sound when the assistant actually works.

Twice I have been able to watch the phone screen when it does connect and something really wierd is happening.

The phone screen gets a volume slider on the right side that flashes between volume and bluetooth. When it goes to the volume slider, the volume goes up and then it goes all the way down. Then it switches over to the Bluetooth slider which is stable then it goes back to the volume slider which moves volume up and then decreases volume again. It does this several times. The slider disappears when Google Assistant finally disengages from the watch. I believe it is controlling the volume ON THE WATCH because I have no other explanation as to why the voice slider on the watch gets minimized when my watch actually does make a connection with Google assistant. The volume slider always goes down to minimum on the phone. However, the volume for the actual phone functions are not minimized so it HAS to be the watch volume.

If I try to give Google a command through the watch, I can't hear a reply because on the watch the Voice  volume setting is minimized.

I wish Garmin would get back in touch with me on this.. Garmin SP is really leaving me hanging.....

If interested I now have video of the sliders for Bluetooth and volume appearing/changing when the assistant actually connects to the watch as well as video of the toggles for call and audio under Bluetooth > venu 3s turning on and off repeatedly when the watch tries BUT FAILS to connect to the assistant. (This is NOT new behavior.)

  • Yet another update. Two things just happened. The first time I tried to connect to the assistant this morning I got a very barely audible connection beep from the watch but the connection didn't complete and I never got the microphone on the watch face and Google Assistant never popped up on the bottom of my phone screen. However, because the audible town was so low, I checked the volume slider and it was all the way down to minimum. I had made sure earlier this morning that it was all the way up on maximum.

I actually got the Google Assistant to connect to the venu a few minutes later. The volume slider stayed at FULL volume, but I had NO audio coming back from the watch when I asked the assistant a question.
