Notification icon in the Garmin Connect app

Over in the GC iOS forum, two years ago  posted this and that is now locked, without any resolution.

I have this issue with my Garmin Connect Android App.

I want to report that "new notification indicator" (see attached screenshot) is ON every time when I leave the app on my Google Pixel 9s phone. (close the app, minimize or switch to another app and back). I did not receive new notification (and I remove all past notifications). After I click on bell icon (clear the notification, or not - if there is no notification there) and came back to "My Day" screen, the dot disappears. When I minimize, close & reopen, or switch to another app and back, the dot is there once again. This behavior is constantly for at least 3 months. It is really frustrating.

I tried to clearing cache, storage, uninstalling then reinstall the app. I've restarted the phone. It is persistent behavior...it is broken. Is there a fix?

    Thank you for trying all those troubleshooting steps. Sorry about the frustration with the notification icon in your Connect app. If you scroll down on the inbox does the screen refresh and show anything different? After doing that, does the new notification indicator go away when you select the back arrow?

    When I scroll down and refresh the empty inbox there is no change.  Pressing the back arrow it takes me to my main page and the icon is always gone. It does disappear. The issue is if I close and reopen the app, the icon notification is back, and the the inbox is empty still.

    Sometimes there are notifications in there. I read and delete those until the inbox is empty.  Then it is the same behavior, go back, icon is clear.  Close/reopen the app and there is a notification dot again.

    Can I ask which Garmin Connect mobile version you're using? If I recall, the "My Day" tab on the bottom left was changed to "Home" a while ago. Yours looks like the version before version 5 officially launched in April 2024.

    I've been on current: "5.17.2," and I think last night it was upgraded to 5.18.

    Whatever it is, mine is the latest.

    The photo was from the older "locked" post on the iOS forum. I used that and the link, to show it has been an ongoing unresolved issue for a long time.

    Inexplicably after a couple of weeks, it cleared and is working as expected.

    I did upgrade to GC 5.18, and Garmin-MR may have been mucking around in my account. IDK. It isn't broken anymore.
