Suggestion: Move alert

Garmin's Move alert implementation is quite basic - gives an alert after an hour of inactivity. There is no way to configure it- say between so and so hours in a day or to select weekdays and to skip weekends, for example.

Although, i like this feature, i do find it a bit agreessive in its current form. It gets to work right after I wake up and continues till I go to sleep! Heck, i also got an alert a few time while having dinner!

Would be nice if Garmin takes inspiration from other brands like Samsung to provide more options for the Move alert.

P.s. idea has been submitted already.

  • What is the benefit of moving when the watch tells me to?

  • It might feel a bit nagging when your watch buzzes to tell you to get up, especially when you're in the zone, but those "move" alerts are actually based on some solid physiology

    The Science Behind the Nudge

    • Preventing Metabolic Slowdown: When you are sedentary for long periods, your body’s production of lipase—an enzyme that breaks down fat—drops significantly. Even a brief two-minute walk can help "turn" those systems back on, keeping your metabolic rate more consistent throughout your work day.

    • Improving Circulation: Sitting for hours causes blood to pool in your lower extremities and slows down venous return. Standing up and moving encourages blood flow, which helps deliver oxygen to tissues and aids in the removal of metabolic byproducts, even if the exertion is minimal.

    • Supporting Recovery: You have a busy, structured training week. Movement breaks during your non-training hours help prevent stiffness in your hips and lower back, which can otherwise compromise your form during your runs, swims, or gym sessions at 06:30.

    • Mental Reset: Given your demanding routine, these prompts act as a tactical "circuit breaker" for your focus, helping to reduce mental fatigue between your training sessions and your work commitments.
