Forerunner 965 update software downloading but not installing

Forerunner 965 software update problem:

V25.04 download possible but it is not installing. After installation it is still v19.18 and not v25.04 !?

Also tried installation after factory reset but didn't help.

Thankful for any tips !

All attempts of updating software via Garmin Connect (also with USB connection to phone) and directly via the watch itself failed.

Even after several factory resets and re-installing Garmin connect.

I finally managed after losing a complete day.. shame on you Garmin!

Here is how: downloaded Garmin Express to my Windows PC and did the software update via this program (and USB connection to PC).

I hope you don't have to waste so much time as I did on things not working properly.
