No audio prompts

If the Garmin Connect app is not running in the foreground, audio prompts during an activity are not to be heard anymore.

Only with an open Connect app, audio prompts can be heard.

That's not how it should be. Nobody has the Connect app open and activated during an activity.

(Android Samsung S25 Ultra, Connect app v 5.17.1, connected to Forerunner 955, with Google TTS activated)

  • Well, I never bring my phone when I workout outside wearing my enduro 3.  So, I never get voice alerts, but they're supposed to work..

  • Great, now the audio prompts are all over the place. They rarely work as they should, most of the time I get incomplete info, only a heartbeat zone prompt, or pace prompt, sometimes nothing at all. Same run, btw. This is ridiculous. And why is the app being forced to open in order to "work"? It used to work just fine in the background! Garmin is regressing.

  • Yes they have regressed.  I'm having to download and use connect software from April just to get timed voice alerts on my 1050.  Their new software as we all know is pathetic.

  • as mentioned here, uninstall garmin connect, download version 5.11.2 apk (search "garmin connect 5.11.2 apk"), the latest version with working audio prompts. I downloaded from uptodown website. Install the apk. Voilà, works like it should.

I use speed prompt for kayaking. In the middle of the ocean, with no nearby reference point and paddling against the wind, it's difficult to estimate your speed and how many hours it will take to reach land (and decide to abort/alternate). I consider it an essential feature. It's ridiculous that the audio prompts have been experiencing issues for several months, and the company managed to break something that worked and leave it at that. Sounds like something is deeply flawed, I bet Amazfit has better engineering.
