Connect App - constant notification blue bubble without actually new notifcations present

somebody else noticed as well that since a couple of days the Android Connect App (v5.16.2) constantly shows a notifficiton reminder (blue bubble) without actually new notifications present?

I felt strange why I'm getting all of a sudden so many notifcation (thought they would be new) so I deleted all received&past notifications and voila the blue bubble is still reminding me

for having a new notification without actually being true. Anybody else noticed this issue?

  • to replicate this issue:

    1. open Connect app, blue notification bubble visible
    2. acknowledge the notification and go to inbox
    3. record the last new entry there
    4. exit the inbox to the home pane (blue bubble is gone)
    5. exit Connect app
    6. open a 2nd time connect app
    7. the blue bubble appears again
    8. sanity check content of inbox: no new unread notification present
  • I've just gone through steps 1 to 6. The blue bubble did not re-appear.

    FWIW, once read I've not been deleting my Notifications, so there's a long list of those I've already read. 

  • interesting, did the blue bubble also stays hidden when you close/kill the connect app instance and re-open the app from the homescreen?

  • Yes. In fact, I also cleared out all my old, read notifications to get the Inbox is Empty screen like yours and the bubble still hasn't returned.

    I'd try clearing the cache for the App, and then doing an uninstall/install if that doesn't resolve it. 

  • I see, seems an issue on my end, I already tried clearing the cache bit to no success, guess need to re-install connect app then, there si nothing else I can see to fix this

  • Noticed the constant blue notification bubble in Garmin Connect Mobile on Android as well. It appears even without new notifications and remains until the app is restarted or cleared from memory.

  • at least I'm not the only one...

  • Version 5.17 of Connect is now available. Maybe they've fixed it?

  • tried today 5.17 from 9.Sept but same issue remains, I suspect this isn't actually born in the app itself but the server back who sends those notifcation fails to recognize a read receipt on my side

    tried cearing the cache, resetting the app even re-insytalloign Connect (wouldn't suggest as this make you more work in setting it up again) but to no avail
