How to pair Garmin forerunner 965 with Samsung Galaxy Ultra 25

I have the garmin connect App installed, my Galaxy ultra 25 will find the watch, however it will say pairing failed. It never gives me a pairing code or prompts for a code. I have Un and re installed the connect app, i have factory reset the watch multiple times. I have connected the watch to express and is fully updated. how can i fix this issue?

  • OK, I see, so as far as I can see from the screenshots, and unlike what you wrote originally, Connect in fact never detected the watch on its own?. It looks like you only got the prompt by scanning the QR code. Did you try simply searching for available devices from Garmin Connect (without scanning the QR code)?

  • I have went as far as trying to force the Bluetooth with a 3rd party app. It's not detected.

  • I can either use the QR code or use connect and find device. The 6 digit pin to pair will never prompt therefore the watch will not pair and it will fail. The new watch comes Wednesday. Once arrives I will do the same process (removing the old device from connect of course)

  • If you refer to my OP it states connect finds the watch just wont promt a pin to pair js

Yes, that's what you wrote, but the screenshots do not confirm that you searched available BT devices. If Connect indeed detected the watch on its own (without scanning the QR code, and without selecting it manually), then it means the BT of the watch works.

Is it a new watch? If so, then why is Garmin asking $160 for the replacement? If not, then how was it paired till now? Was it paired with another phone?

    • I bought it second hand. Unfortunately off market place. So returning it is impossible. The watch was factory reset when it arrived. So instead of a total loss im paying the 160$. It was paired  the seller said to a iPhone 14 but sat in a box for a year. I full updated the watch on express but didn't fix the issue. It's sad but unfortunately I am taking a hit on it being defective.
  • Try one last thing to check whether the BT works or not - on the watch, go to Sensors & Accessories » Wrist Heart Rate and turn on the HR Broadcasting. Then try to connect the HR broadcasting over BT with the Strava app . If you succeed, then the BT is fine, and there is another problem. There are also other similar apps, or if you have another smartwatch or for example an Edge computer, then you can use those for searching the HR broadcast (though the devices, unlike the phone, may use ANT+ instead of BT).

  • ... and when everything fails, then I would try reinstalling the firmware. On recent models, it is possible through the hidden Developer menu (press 8 times the Light button while on the screen Settings » System » About), and then select Reinstall Software. Once done, reboot the watch, and try pairing again.

  • Doesn't appear i have that option for heart rate. Also, I did the developer option and reinstalled the software twice with no luck. Here is the options sensors provides tho
