How to pair Garmin forerunner 965 with Samsung Galaxy Ultra 25

I have the garmin connect App installed, my Galaxy ultra 25 will find the watch, however it will say pairing failed. It never gives me a pairing code or prompts for a code. I have Un and re installed the connect app, i have factory reset the watch multiple times. I have connected the watch to express and is fully updated. how can i fix this issue?

  • Make sure you never add the watch to bluetooth devices on the phone. Remove it if added. Garmin Connect will add it for you.

  • It's a new watch to me. I have tried everything even factory resetting my phone and watch. It will not pair. I have tried my wife's phone iPhone pro max 13 and it will not pair. I have made sure it's fully updated through garmin express. My phone will find the phone. However, it will not prompt the 6 digit pin to pair and will just fail. I hope garmin can help me when I call today because it should not be this difficult to pair a device. My garmin edge for my bike paired with ease.

  • Remove the watch from the list of Bluetooth devices on the phone before setting the watch into the pairing mode, and pairing exclusively from within the Garmin Connect app. That's the ultimate condition for successful pairing!

Make sure no other phone or device that was already previously paired with the watch (or having it on the BT list) is in the proximity (minimally 10-100m away, or turned off).

  • You cant bluetooth the watch. It only connects with the app and it is not pairing. I have factory reset my phone AND watch. Nothing is connected at all. It will not pair.

  • Then call the regional Support and let them walk you through the setup

  • Thats the plan today.  I have followed every how-to on forums to youtube. Thinking the watch is defective. Was hoping maybe someone on here had the same issue and hit a magic button and would let me know the secret but unfortunately not lol. Thanks for the replies. After I speak with garmin I will post how it went so it can hopefully help someone in the future.

  • Support couldn't fix the issue and having to pay for a replacement. Incase anyone else finds this thread and exhausted all how to options available there is no fix besides replacement

It means the Bluetooth of the watch must be functional, and I do not see any reason why it should not pair (except if you did not remove it from the phone's BT paired list before adding to GC), and why a replacement would be needed. Is it a second hand watch, or was it paired with another phone previously, or you never paired it with any phone?

And most importantly, did you really check the list of Bluetooth devices in the Android settings, and removed the watch from there before adding it to Connect? Could you post a screenshot of the BT list, showing that there is really no trace of the watch there, before adding the watch from within Garmin Connect?

  • ... you should also test it with another brand of phone (for example one of a friend). Samsung Galaxy phones have often problems coping with BLE devices. Resetting the Network on the phone, or temporarily disabling WiFi (using mobile data instead) may sometimes help, so in your place I would try it.

  • I also used my wife's iPhone pro max 13. Also, I tried to push the Bluetooth with an app. Pushing it did try and force the pin however it would say failed. I went over this with support. I even registered it with my wife's iPhone same deal, failed to pair.
