Getting Error Message" You are being rate limited" after watch update and Mobile App reinstall

I'm getting Error Message" You are being rate limited" after watch update and Mobile App reinstall. The only thing I can find on this is to wait 24 hours. I updated my watch yesterday, and today the Phone Mobile app, Garmin Connect wasn't working so I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and it wouldn't allow me to login and gave me this error message. I don't have on any VPN. I can still login on the PC so my account appears to be available. 

Very frustrating! Anyone else have this issue or know of a fix other than possibly waiting 24 hours?

  • J'ai exactement le même problème ! Impossible de se reconnecter depuis la réinstallation de l'appli pour tenter de corriger les bugs de reconnaissance qui ont lieu depuis plusieurs semaines. Garmin que se passe-t-il !? Vous allez perdre des clients !

  • Fortunately, it did work after waiting 24 hours. I found only a few suggested fixes which I tried but only waiting worked. Sadly, once I got back into my app, everything reset. I think the last update was a very bad, and buggy update. My watch reset and I've been trying to fix it, resetting everything after years is not good.. And The Dozen app was causing problems since I used it extensively. This caused issues. The developer now charges for the addon but it used to be free. So make sure you also remove this from your Garmin app list or it will cause you problems when trying to update your watch.   

    Just in case that doesn't work for you.

    • I also found people suggesting to turn off your VPN (i didn't have one one).
    • Check your user password. (I used the same one on the website as I used on my app, so it wasn't the password that caused my issue.)
    • Uninstall Garmin Connect app on your phone and reinstall app. I did this which caused problems 
    • Go through each of your apps, i.e. Dozen, make sure they haven't changed and cause you problems when trying to update the watch.

    Another note:  Although the app wasn't working on my phone, I was always able to use the online Garmin Connect website, and my Garmin Connect PC version, just not on my mobile device.
