Health Connect in GC Android App

Google announced the Garmin will support their API to sync data with Health Connect sometime this month (June 2025)

Please discuss your cons, skepticism, and objections ... because that's what people do in public forums.

Also please discuss the pros and potential for users.

  • It is consumer friendly to all easy access to personal data.
  • Any gear I choose to generate data might be accessible to view, process, and compare
  • I got this working by syncing my scales to the MyFitnessPal app and Garmin connect reads in the weight reading from there. It doesnt read in the weight from Health Connect

  • sync your scale to myfitnesspal and Garmin Connect can read it in from there

  • That begs the question: Garmin announces their GC on Android is going to sync with Health Connect.  You are saying they currently read in the data from MFP on weight.  GC on Android can read in weight data.  If they now support Health Connect, why not add in "read weight" from Health Connect.

All of our weight numbers are visible there in Health Connect, why not allow GC to read that data in, in one clean step?

  • Glad to see Garmin's progress on Health Connect integration. Looking forward to seamless syncing across devices, especially sleep and weight data. Hope the rollout is swift and stable.

  • This particular idiocy is maddening. Health Connect is explicitly designed to stop people having to daisy chain apps like that. I'm UK based so NutraCheck is the food tracker of choice meaning MFP isn't really an option anyway, not without accepting a second tier experience (NC is UK focused so simply better for us).
