Epix Pro Gen 2 Sapphire edition not fully recognized when paired.

Hi

I recently bought Epix Pro Gen 2 sapphire edition. It works well, but when I added it to the app it was only recognised as Epix Pro Gen 2- it seems like the app does not show Sapphire edition (I tried via Garmin Express, same situation), I tried restart/ remove device etc- nothing works. My apps and watch are up to date with software. Any ideas why this is the case?

  • The identification of the device doesn't get that granular. My watch is epix (Gen 2), Sapphire. Garmin Connect shows it as EPIX Gen2.

    As long as your watch is listed as "Pro," it has no impact on the performance of the watch or the app. However, it is possible to manually configure how the device is shown in the device listing in the app under More → Garmin Devices

    • Go to Garmin Connect Web
    • Click the watch icon in the top, right corner of the screen
    • Click on Epix
    • Click the pencil icon to the right of the current device name
    • Enter the desired name, then click the green check mark
    • In the Connect app under More → Garmin Devices, the watch will then be shown using your desired name.

    Just know that it will still be shown as the original name if you tap on it, which is not user configurable.
