But Garmin says it automatic nap detection is a feature of the watch. I also don't see a sleep coach option in Connect. Is Garmin wrong or am I missing something?

I experienced the same but I think it is a watch thing. I got a Venu X1 and it detected a nap I did an hour ago which was even the first I did with this watch. I was surprised because my L2A never detected a nap, never. Maybe it is the one of the sensors missing or the newer HR sensor Gen5 of the Venu X1 measuring it more acurately?
I love my Lily 2 Active. It is so small and really nice looking, the opposite of the Venu X1 I bought. But some stuff isn't really that good on the watch even though it is quite expensive for what it is...
