Garmin Connect steps, floors, and calorie data not syncing with Fenix 8

Garmin Connect Android app version: 5.12.1
Garmin Device: Fenix 8 47mm AMOLED
Garmin Device Firmware version: 13.37

Issue: Device displays step, floors, and calorie data that is within normal range based on weekly averages, Garmin Connect displays step, floors, and calorie date that differs from the device.

Device data:
Steps: 362
Floors: 0
Calories: 23 active, 793 resting

Garmin Connect Android data:
Steps: 10,443
Floors: 22
Calories: 607 active, 793 resting

Attempts to synchronize/correct data are as follows:

1. Power cycled device, tapped on sync button on Device
2. Power cycled device, tapped on sync button in Garmin Connect Android app
3. Cleared cache for Garmin Connect Android, tapped on sync button
4. Uninstalled Garmin Connect Android and then reinstalled, paired device and synced

Please be aware that these 4 attempts are all that I thought of, if there are other ways to possibly resolve this sync issue, I'm open to suggestions. 



  • And which of them is actually correct? Do both the watch and the phone show exactly the same time (incl. AM/PM) and date? 

  • The device data is correct, time data is also in sync. As of right now, Device data shows 667 steps, 44 active and 852 resting calories. App data seems to be frozen at 10,443 steps, 22 floors, 607 active and 793 resting calories. 

  • Does the syncing complete successfully (getting a green check sign when finished)? Did you check the Device Sync Audit (at the bottom of the Settings menu)? When you record a test activity, does it sync correctly to GC? What does Garmin Connect Web show?

    - Yes

    "Did you check the Device Sync Audit (at the bottom of the Settings menu)?"
    - At the time I submitted the initial post, I did not. 

    "When you record a test activity, does it sync correctly to GC?"
    - I've just now recorded a run, run data between Device and App appeared to be in sync

    "What does Garmin Connect Web show?"
    - Garmin Connect Web also shows the same data as the Garmin Connect Android app, 10,443 steps, 22 floors, 607 active and 793 resting calories. However the recent run activity appears to be in sync with Device and App. 

  • Assuming you already tried reinstalling the app, resetting the device, removing and adding it back to Garmin Connect, I recommend reaching out to the Product Support through their website at https://support.garmin.com
