Missing Location Name in Activity Display – Fenix 5

Hi Support Team,

I am using the Fenix 5 watch, and unfortunately, when I select "Location & Type" as the Activity Name format in the Display Preferences menu, the location name is not shown.

It seems that the location I’m currently in is not supported or maintained. I am located in Oral city, West Kazakhstan Region, Kazakhstan.

I would really like to get this feature working. Could you please assist with this? I am happy to provide any additional information or support needed to help resolve the issue.

Many people in my city use Garmin watches, and adding support for our location could further increase Garmin’s popularity in the region.

Let make Oral city be supported?

It looks like the entire Kazakhstan is excluded. I tried editing the starting point to different locations in Kazakhstan, including the capital Astana, and none of the locations is supported. However,…

Sorry for asking the obvious, just to be sure: are the concerned activities outdoor ones, using GPS, and correctly displaying the map in Garmin Connect? Could you post a link to a sample activity done after the change of the naming pattern?

Yes sure. The screenshot of a recent activity is below. It seems that my city is not supported. And I want to change this fact.

Could you export the activity, and post the zipped FIT file here? Use the forum function Insert » Video/Image/File » Upload

Export is available on the activity screen when you click on the cogwheel symbol top right. Use the first export option.

It looks like the entire Kazakhstan is excluded. I tried editing the starting point to different locations in Kazakhstan, including the capital Astana, and none of the locations is supported. However, a small village a few kilometers from you, just across the border in Russia, does trigger the location name correctly (see the screenshot). I guess that it might be intentional, perhaps because of some governmental restrictions. I recommend asking your local Support at https://support.garmin.com.
