Watch Deleting Texts Before I Read Them

Wondering if anyone else is having this issue. I have searched online and can't seem to find resolution after trying some of the suggested fixes, Google AI answers also muddying my research attempts.

I have a an Android S24 FE running Google Messages for my text message application. I have a Garmin Tactix 8 (though this happened on my D2 as well.) All are running the most current versions of their software to my knowledge. Whenever I get text messages, my watch eats them. I don't know how else to explain it. The watch takes the message, displays it as a notification, and completely deletes it from my phone, whether I have seen it or not. This is very frustrating because I don't even know how this is possible, but it seems to be some kind of interaction between Google Messages and Connect and RCS chats.

To my knowledge I have fully allowed notification permissions across both my phone, app, and watch. Everything is allowed/turned on. I have allowed all apps to send notifications to my watch.

Anyone have any ideas or miracle fixes or even heard of this issue?

Are you saying that the message is actually deleted from the phone? The watch can't delete messages so it should be something on your phone that does it.

Have you checked the spam and archive in Messages?

Yes they completely disappear. I've checked archived/deleted and spam. It's not the whole chain that gets deleted, just individual messages.

I have heard that the watches can't actually delete anything but it's very odd. The message will show up on my watch as a notification, I can respond to it or dismiss it, but if I try and open Messages app on my phone, there's nothing/as if it never happened. If I miss the message on my watch it's just gone forever.
