Why is Connect+ so bad?

I signed up for Connect+ subscription and will cancel before.i have to pay.

So far the 'intelligence' just puts words in between stats I can already see and none of them add value. It doesn't use context of past days or workouts.

Example above. How useless is that? It's just word wrapper around the stats.

  • Garmin can't get its fill. I hope that nobody subscribes to this crap and that the sales figures for Garmin's products now collapse.

  • Much like the Strava AI which suggests you're always "crushing it". Joy

  • Same, Will cancel before i have to pay

  • I agree 100 percent most users of connect complain of how inaccurate the app or watch is then pay for AI crap that's worse

  • True. The basic features of the mobile app have been broken or inaccurate for years. Paying a subscription for any features makes no sense when they don't bother to make even basic features work properly.

  • let you keep wonder are these native speaker who selected this word salad blocks, just think about for a seconds of this:

    "good indication of consistent effort"

so you use the word "indication" because you aren't really sure about the ultimate outcome but then you saying there was "consistent efforts". If you label something "consistent" requires you to observe or monitor it for a prolonged period of time means you are not longer indicating something but have a pretty solid understanding how it was actually going...

  • This is AI. Crap goes in, crap goes out. With bad prompt it even hallucinates, so even with good training (of the AI) crap will come out. AI is a new thing, not many developers know how to use it , and Garmin is known to be pretty bad on the software side even in classical programming... Clearly there's no point adding AI for something that already worked pretty well. The only reason is some manager pushing it: we need AI, 'cause everyone is using it nowadays...

  • You're exactly right. The ensh!ttification of Garmin wearables has begun. This silly subscription and the arbitrary use of an LLM marks the beginning of what I suspect will be a fast side into expensive, useless features, more aggressive sale of our personal data, followed by a mass exodus of users.

Its too bad. As it is, the products are way too expensive, which I used to believe was worth it over Fitbit's non-repairable devices and the purchase by the largest ad company in the world. Now I dont feel the price is at all justified if the future of the platform is in doubt.

As I said before, the app had been fairly broken for years, and support is silent on any of it. Updates arrive with "bug fixes and other updates" instead of a real changelog. Its frustrating how all commerce is moving this way.

Subscription based heated seats in cars with built in navigation that requires a $40/mo sub to access, despite paying for the hardware and software. Its all seen as a way to get more data from users now instead of delivering value to the customer.

  • I canceled before paying. Don't see any value at all
