No activity syncing to Connect after installing explorer.

Recently got an Inreach mini 2 and subsequently installed both the Explore and Messenger app on my android device.  Ever since then, no activity will sync with Connect, they only show up in Explorer and I have to manually take the fit file from the watch and add it to Connect.  This is extremely frustrating as none of the health data shows within Explorer.  Process i am doing is Start activity on watch > Load course > Save and finish.  This used to sync everything to Connect, and now nothing.  Is there something else i should be doing to get this back to how it was?

  • Perhaps try asking on the Explore forum. The Explore app seems to be one huge mess, and it has many peculiar quirks, especially when used alongside other Garmin apps.

  • Good point, was hoping someone here had experience with the frustration.  The software ecosystem seems to be a complete mess, very disappointing because the hardware is solid.

  • You could try the following:

    • Force-closing the Explore and Messenger apps, and syncing Connect manually
    • Turning off and then on the Bluetooth on the phone, and trying to sync manually again
    • Signing out from Connect, then signing back in
    • Reinstalling Connect
    • Removing and Adding the Device From the Garmin Connect App 
    • Check the Device Sync Audit for errors (it is at the bottom of the Settings menu in GC)

    There are some more tips in the Sync / Connection Troubleshooting Guide, though not all will apply to your case  

  • Appreciate the help, wasn't aware of the sync logs and that shows that there were indeed some sync failures which I'm going to chase up (failure to read file from device, error prior to execute)... but surprisingly it managed to successfully sync an activity yesterday to connect without me making any changes, so hopefully that continues!

  • I have the same issue.  Both Connect and Explore function fine in the background and record hikes and walks.  Also, in the foreground, Connect will sync without issue.  When I open and sync Explore however, things break.  Explore will sync and do its thing without ussue, but after closing Explore, Connect will no longer sync.  The only fix I have found is to reboot the phone which is a drag.
