Newest Garmin update broke Google assistant and calling ability

This morning I had trouble getting my venue 3S to connect to my Samsung s24 ultra. The watch was saying it was connected, it could receive text messages and sync with connect, and the watch itself was showing that it was connected when I went into connectivity settings, but the Bluetooth toggles in the phone were disconnected, and it would not connect manually. It took multiple times of deleting the watch from Bluetooth and Garmin connect to finally get it compare AND show it was connected on the watch and in Bluetooth settings on the phone.

When I finally got the phone and the watch to communicate and show that they were connected, I got a huge pop up on connect saying that my model phone is no longer compatible with Google assistant, and calling! It's brand new since the update came out a couple of days ago. I got this watch as a Christmas present and now they've yanked this feature specifically because I could take and make calls off of it and now they've yanked the feature?

Phone model is SM-S928U

Garmin connect version 5.10

  • Same issue with Venu 3S, a Galaxy S21 and their last update to firmware 13.17. With 12.12, everything run smooth (the moment I left Beta program... which broke "a lot of features")

I changed from Fitbit in December 2024 to Garmin after many years without issues... I have the feeling that Garmin is not what I expected.
