It is now 2 years. Can Garmin advise status of their work to resolve the ghost ftp bug? I need the persistent cross country skiing ftp and cycling ftp removed as I have not done those activities.

  • Every time I input my current weight, a new cross country skiing ftp and cycling ftp is generated even though I did not do those activities. This has been stated many times, yet Garmin has not acted to enable deletion of the incorrect metrics. How can consumers trust anyother metric shown by Garmin.

  • What does those values affect if you don't do any cross country ski or cycling? I'm just ignoring the cross country ski FTP value.

So, just don't look at the FTP page.

  • I dont know if the bug affects accuracy of other data acquired. Since it is an acknowledged (by Garmin) bug, I expect it to be resolved as it affects many models.

  • I run a lot and expect running ftp. Can I trust the figure shown by Garmin when there is an acknowledged bug?

I hate to disappoint you, but by hiding the ski FTP value the accuracy will not improve. The ski FTP is just an estimate based on the collected metrics. Garmin tells "Cross country skiing FTP is typically 30 to 40 percent lower than cycling FTP at the same training intensity.". Possibly they calculate it from the combined cycling FTP and running LT power. It may be in fact better to keep it visible in order to allow you observe any strange changes.

The hiding of the value would do nothing else than appeasing people with obsessive need to check that page despite that they do no cycling and no ski, but it would in no way improve the accuracy.

I run a lot and expect running ftp.

Then it is useless checking the Cycling / Ski FTP screen. Go to the LTHR report - it shows the threshold power (in all modes 1d / 4w / 12w / 1y)

  • This is a Garmin forum where we highlight bugs and remind Garmin when bugs are not resolved even after 2 years. I dont know why you persist in your silly arguments that make no sense to the context of Garmin's responsibility towards its consumers. This is not about appeasing people with obsessive need. It is about Garmin's responsibility towards customers. Go get a life mate instead of your obsession to prop up your self esteem and leave the rest of us in peace.

  • I'm confused.

When I look at the Performance Stats on the Android client, I see an FTP choice and when I select that I see a Cycling W/kg (I do cycle so it has valid values) and a Cross Country Skiing Power field (which is blank as I don't XC ski). I don't - and wouldn't expect to - see any Running FTP.

When I look at the Performance Stats on the Web client, and then select Running, there is no option to select FTP.

On both clients, LTHR seems to be the better measure for running and Garmin therefore does not calculate a Running FTP (intervals.icu does provide a Running FTP based on my Garmin data though).

I'm therefore wondering what the "bug" is.
